Heart Under Glass

 I once knew an old lady who kept her crimson heart

 safely locked inside a glass case.

She told me it was never allowed out for fear it might get broken.

 I remember concluding…. How sad a thought to think.

 Let it out!    Let it celebrate!  

 Give it the chance to experience the sweet gift of possibly being shattered into a million tiny pieces!

Impossibly Intricate

 Excessive design that is in a word profound.

 An amplified profusion of protrusions.

 Nubby nodules and incredible crevasses seemingly painstakingly stitched, one by one by hand.

 Alien at first glance, urchin by proper definition.

Deeply alluring salt water gems that lurk beneath the waves resting upon the ocean floor elicit no phony emotion,

 only raw appreciation and authentic admiration.

 Specimens that defy explanation….

but then, is explanation really necessary?!
