Where Women Shop, and shop, and shop...

The time has come, the walrus said, To talk of many things: of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings!

And why the sea is boiling hot, and whether pigs have wings! I suspect you may be wondering what this has to do with anything?

Well, I suppose it's an exquisite lesson in fantasy, a verse to help us all to remember to indulge in frivolity! And speaking of indulgence, I trust you are all enjoying WHERE WOMEN CREATE, I know I am, and as if that weren't enough, I mean the wonderful magazine and all, this post is to herald in the opening of a great NEW place to shop! Yes! WHERE WOMEN SHOP!

Where Women Shop is now open! (just click on the words Objects of Desire or Where Women Shop, here and once you're at the site) And what perfect timing too! It is filled with the most magical creations, true Objects of Desire!
Beautiful amusements just perfect for your salon...

My offering, among many lovelies, is "A Creative Woman" a fanciful print with delicate touches of hand applied paints in luscious candy hues on a 9x12 canvas. Perfect alone on an easel, just add a pretty strip of seam binding around the edges to match your decor, or ready for a frame to grace your walls! Each is signed and numbered in a limited edition of 20 pieces only.

I chose to set my original in an ornate goose grey frame. The actual antique engraving I used as the basis of this piece is a fabulous French fashion plate from my private collection, dated 1790. I only handle it with white cotton gloves so as not to damage the thick but delicate paper it is printed on. The image is actually pressed right into the old and softly mellowed parchment paper.

I added pops of bright tones with splashes of watercolor and powdery acrylics in baby blues, hot pinks, even yellow polka dots to accent her voluminous ball gown and it is finished off with subtle hints of chocolate brown. Delightfully decadent and decidedly delicious!

And may I present to you a few more, well, lets just call them necessities... and a little nonsense verse,

"Fit for a Queen" by Norma Rapko Vargas, *A beautiful antiqued picture frame, gorgeously distressed and adorned with a metal wreath and gold crown. Will you, won't you, will you, won't you, will you join the dance?

"Crescendoh1" by Jenny Doh *An elegant composition book altered with assorted ephemera and embellishments. In Autumn when the leaves are brown, take pen and ink, and write it down!

"Create" by Jill Schwartz *An antique gold paperweight with signature graphics. Reminds me of a sweet little kiss on the forehead!

"Birdsong" by Anna Corba *A whimsical decorative collage, captured on wood with beeswax overlay. It's a melody played in a penny arcade!

"Flights of Fancy" by Karima Cammell *A gorgeous set of 6 letter press printed greeting cards. Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast!

Artisan Palette by Denise Sharp *Palette with paint brush, created with cardstock, French ephemera and vintage glitter! In a Wonderland they lie, dreaming as the days go by...

These are but a few of the delights awaiting you at Where Women Shop, brought to you by Where Women Create, but hurry, as these jewels are offered in limited quantities and only for a limited period of time!
